If you are currently experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately. If you’re thinking about harming yourself, call the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988, or the 24-hour National Suicide Prevention Lifeline toll-free at 1-800-273-8255 to be connected to a trained counselor at a suicide crisis center nearest you. For youth under the age of 18, call the Division of Child and Family Services’ (DCFS) Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) at 702-486-7865 in Southern Nevada or 775-688-1670 in Northern Nevada.

How to Practice:

  1. Set aside time – Dedicate a specific time each day for meditation.
  2. Find a relaxed position – Sit comfortably, close your eyes, relax your muscles, and breathe easily.
  3. Focus on inner love and kindness – Thank yourself for all you do in this world.
  4. Repeat these phrases – First for yourself, then for someone you love, and finally for someone you struggle with:
    • May I/you be happy
    • May I/you be healthy
    • May I/you be safe
    • May I/you live with ease
  5. Expand your focus – Feel gratitude and love for all people in your life.
  6. Carry the feeling with you – Open your eyes and keep this warm sense of kindness throughout your day.

This practice nurtures compassion and helps create a sense of peace and connection.
